Createful Heart Progressive Challenge

I have made a card for Createful Heart's Progressive challenge on Facebook. You are given an image to work with and a challenge of following a sketch. The store has recently had a slight change of name to include the word vintage, so to celebrate, in my own little way, I have made the image sepia. I have never done a sepia card before and I must say it was quite a challenge. I used alcohol pens to colour the image using several shades of brown and tan colours. I edged around the image with a pen and softened it with a blender pen.

This is the image and sketch to follow. It ends 13th June 2018

Crafts Dreamy May Challenge

I love to recycle and reuse anything. Today I have recycled a piece of wood. I have had it a while and never really got around to playing with it. It was a spare piece that was left over. It hadn't been cleanly cut but it was perfect for this project. I used the mood-board for my inspiration.

I white washed the piece with white acrylic paint mixed with talc then rubbed over it with some oil based crayons. The talc gives the piece extra texture. The oil crayons blend together so I was able to use 2 shades of blues and a white one and because of the texture in the talc it left a lovely distressed look.

I covered the piece from corner to corner using some netting type material. I use this a lot in my vintage projects. I have no idea where I bought this from but it really did seem like a good idea to have it at the time.

I added some organza/lace to the bottom and wrapped bakers twine at one side. I cut some fauna from the same paper used for the anchor and shells and tucked these behind the shells.

I added some flowers in the other corner. For projects like this I use an hot glue gun. Its super quick at drying and it doesn't matter if you leave glue strands on the piece as it gives it character.

I used an anchor and shells and distressed it with distress ink and added some unloved eyelets from corner to corner. I bought these years ago and I have never found anything that suited them until now. I added these with an hot glue gun and used a awl to fix them in place.

I am really lucky and proud to be a design team member for Crafts Dreamy Design Team

On the 15th of every month there is a new challenge which follows a mood board any kind of paper crafts/altered art is allowed as long as you follow the mood board.

Knight by Ike's Art

I have used a free image from Ike's art to create this bookmark.

I have been having a play with pencils. I bought a set a while ago and I was hoping to use them to sketch but life got in the way and I never got past the light source section. I have enjoyed playing with the pencils and although I now use alcohol pens I would certainly try using them again. I just need more practice.

I have followed the theme of monochrome, which is perfect as it just happens to be the challenge theme too

CGE May Challenge with Fred She Said

I coloured her using alcohol pens and cut her by hand leaving a white border. I used a fine line pen to create a checked effect on her apron.

The size of the card I have used today is a 6x6 card. I added a layer of bright pink and a layer of the patchwork paper. I cut 2 banners in both the bright pink and a patterned paper. I made a T shape and attached some ribbon across the lower banner.

I cut 2 star out in bright pink and more patterned paper and die cut a Happy Birthday sentiment. I cut the sentiment 4 times to give a raised effect and make it stand out on the busy paper. To finish my card I added a few pink sequins

The image I used is Emma and the cake and she can be found here.

I am very happy and very proud to be on the Crafts Galore Challenge Team
