Crafts Dreamy May Challenge

I love to recycle and reuse anything. Today I have recycled a piece of wood. I have had it a while and never really got around to playing with it. It was a spare piece that was left over. It hadn't been cleanly cut but it was perfect for this project. I used the mood-board for my inspiration.

I white washed the piece with white acrylic paint mixed with talc then rubbed over it with some oil based crayons. The talc gives the piece extra texture. The oil crayons blend together so I was able to use 2 shades of blues and a white one and because of the texture in the talc it left a lovely distressed look.

I covered the piece from corner to corner using some netting type material. I use this a lot in my vintage projects. I have no idea where I bought this from but it really did seem like a good idea to have it at the time.

I added some organza/lace to the bottom and wrapped bakers twine at one side. I cut some fauna from the same paper used for the anchor and shells and tucked these behind the shells.

I added some flowers in the other corner. For projects like this I use an hot glue gun. Its super quick at drying and it doesn't matter if you leave glue strands on the piece as it gives it character.

I used an anchor and shells and distressed it with distress ink and added some unloved eyelets from corner to corner. I bought these years ago and I have never found anything that suited them until now. I added these with an hot glue gun and used a awl to fix them in place.

I am really lucky and proud to be a design team member for Crafts Dreamy Design Team

On the 15th of every month there is a new challenge which follows a mood board any kind of paper crafts/altered art is allowed as long as you follow the mood board.
